BYU's Research Development office, in conjunction with the Office of the Vice President of Research, has recently started the largest internal grant program in the history of the university. BYU faculty can earn up to $120,000 through the Interdisciplinary Research (IDR) Origination Awards, two-year grants that are meant to help faculty conduct research across disciplines that will lead to additional funding from external sources. A letter of intent is due by December 7, 2018. You can use the Letter of Intent form to submit electronically. The deadline for full proposal submission is 5:00 p.m. January 25, 2019.

Limited submission funding opportunities restrict institutions like BYU to a limited number of proposal submittals (typically one) for a particular funding opportunity. Limited submissions opportunities are identified from: (1) external funders contacting the university, (2) research development describing opportunities through bulletins, emails, and the research development website or (3) faculty finding opportunities. Faculty indicate their intent to propose for a particular limited submission opportunity by contacting either their Associate Dean for Research or Research Development (Kristen Kellems, kckellems@byu.edu).

Pivot: Faculty can create profiles, save searches, and see matched funding opportunities and collaborators.

Foundation Center Online: This search engine provides an online search tool that accesses an extensive database of US foundations and their funding histories. It does not list federal or state grant opportunities. For a current username and password, contact ORCA.

Grants.gov: This search engine is used for finding and applying for federal grants.
