Social Work

Admission Requirements

An undergraduate degree from an accredited institution is required for admission. No particular undergraduate major is required, but a broad liberal arts preparation is essential. While a major in social work is seen as desirable, other undergraduate majors are given equal consideration. Applicants with an undergraduate major in an accredited social work program are assumed to automatically meet the prerequisites. Prerequisite areas and credit hours of course work have been established. At least a "B-" grade in each prerequisite course is required for application to the program. Please complete this form by cutting and pasting this document into your statement of intent as the last page. Submit (upload) via the on-line graduate application page.

It is imperative that applicants take prerequisites prior to application to the MSW program, or be currently enrolled in January. If an applicant has taken some of the prerequisites, the admissions committee may consider the applicant for admission; but generally the committee will give preference to applicants who have taken all prerequisites. If the applicant is currently enrolled, please state that information on the application form. Early planning is essential.
