The undergraduate program is designed to prepare social workers with a generalist orientation. The curriculum emphasizes the problem-solving approach as the integrative practice framework. Systems theory is introduced early in the curriculum to support the generalist conception of practice. Carefully selected agency field placements provide students with the opportunity to put into action both the conceptual and practice aspects of social work. Strong scholarship and the excellent curriculum have enabled undergraduate social work majors from BYU to consistently distinguish themselves on the national licensing exam, required of those desirous of practicing in the social work profession
