AWARDS


The Charles Redd Center provides awards, fellowships and grants in variety of categories including:

John Topham and Susan Redd Butler Faculty Research Awards: Provide up to $3,000 to faculty members at any college, university, or academic institution. Research may be conducted at any location.

Awards for Upper Division and Graduate Students: Provide up to $1,500 for research support to college or university students, which can include theses and dissertations. Research may be conducted at any location.

Annaley Naegle Redd Student Award in Women's History: Provides up to $1,500 for research support to college or university students to study some aspect of women's history in the American West. Research may be conducted at any location.

Senior Seminar/Capstone Project Awards: Provide up to $250 to BYU students in a capstone class who are writing a paper on some aspect of the Intermountain West.

Public Programming Awards: Provide up to $3,000 to any private or public organization planning a conference, museum exhibit or lecture series focusing on the Mountain West.

Independent Research and Creative Work Awards: Provide up to $1,500 to individuals who are not connected to a college or university as a faculty member or a student who are researching some aspect of the Intermountain West.

Annaley Naegle Redd Research Assistantships: Provide up to $12,000 and an opportunity for BYU professors to select undergraduate and graduate students to work with them on projects related to the Intermountain West.

Education Awards:
Provide up to $1,000 to educators K-12 for projects and programs related to the Intermountain West. (Applications are accepted and funds are available at any time during the year.)

Publication Grants: Provide up to $3,000 to presses to assist in the publication of scholarly books dealing with the Intermountain West. (Applications accepted and funds available at any time during the year.)

Visiting Scholar Program: Provides funds for faculty, independent scholars, freelance authors and other public intellectuals for a 2-4 month in-residence program.

Visiting Lecturer Program
: Provides a $300 stipend and reasonable travel and lodging expenses to BYU departments to bring visiting lecturers in western studies to BYU. (Applications are accepted and funds are available at any time during the year.)

Karl and Mollie Butler Young Scholar Award: Provides a $3,000 annual salary stipend and $5000 in annual research support to persons in BYU faculty positions for at least three years, but not more than ten.

Fellowship Awards in Western American History: Provde up to $3,500 for scholars to come to BYU to use HBLL Library Special Collections.
