This track lends itself extensively to a business-oriented environment. Essentially, they want you to tell them where they can make the most money. Consider business, marketing, even basic accounting courses.

Business and Marketing:

340. Marketing Management
360. Operations Management
If you're interested in sometime owning or starting your own business it my abe good to take 372. Basic Entrepreneurship Skills

407. Risk Management
430. Introduction to International Business

Accounting:
200. Principles of Accounting

Economics:
275. Public Finance

You may also want to check out some of the options in Management Communications also.

These are just suggestions for elective courses. You should also have a good base in computers--microsoft applications, presentational software, be web savvy etc...

Lastly, you need to have good communication skills. Writing, technical writing, and public speaking skills are very valuable in your track. Look for internships in areas that will give you the opportunity to tune these skills.

 

There is a ton of money in consulting these days. As a travel and tourism consultant you can work for a firm or for major airlines, hotel chains, vacation and travel agencies, local and national government.

Internship Suggestions

  • One of the best things you can do to prepare is find an internship with one of the above listed companies or agencies.
