As planners and in managing resources you ought to have much the same background as an environmental studies major. Both will be dealing with environmental issues, zoning, legalities and a whole bunch of regulatory issues. Here are some possible courses or areas of study to consider:

It's also a good idea to get an understanding of government and politics, for example:

Many of you will go on to work for city, county, and state governments in their planning departments. There are two important factors in preparing for these jobs:

  1. Networking (connections)
  2. Experience
