THE GOVERNMENT also gathers geographic information. Politicians need info on voting patterns, population growth and movement, political, economic, and social geography. They need geographers to consult and help develop policy in all areas of American government. And that's not even counting intelligence geography. All branches of the government employ geographers to research and inform on international issues. The area is huge!
