Proposal
Include a short research proposal (2-5 pages) which clearly describes (1) the objectives of the research, (2) the significance of the project, including how it relates to existing literature, (3) basic procedures or methods to conduct the research, and (4) references of those works cited in the proposal. At the end of the proposal describe how students may be involved and how the research will impact teaching (See “College Research Guidelines” at http://fhss.byu.edu/).

Vita
Please attach a current vita.
  • If funding is targeted for the Marjorie Pay Hinckley Endowed Chair, provide a paragraph showing how the project is consistent with the aims of the chair. These aims can be found at http://fhss.byu.edu.
  • If funding is targeted for the Camilla Kimball Endowed Chair, provide a paragraph showing how the project is consistent with the aims of the chair, which focus on home life and family relationships.

Budget
Use of funds
If funded, I agree to use the funds as outlined in the proposal. It is against College policy to use research funds for software, capital equipment, books, journals, memberships to professional organizations, or travel to conferences.

Research reports
If funded, I agree to submit a short progress report on August 1 and thereafter every February 1 and July 1 until the project is completed. These reports need not be long but should summarize accomplishments and expenditures. Please submit the reports to Stephen Bahr (stephen_bahr@byu.edu or 990A SWKT). Faculty members who do not submit reports will be precluded from receiving future College funding.
