What is Choose to Give?
Choose to Give (C2G) is a campaign that started in 2000 by the students and for the students.  It is sponsored by the BYU Annual Fund and all the funds received go back to the students through mentored learning grants, research projects, and other student activities.

C2G MATCH!
We are thrilled to announce members of the FHSS National Advisory Council and College Volunteer Leadership Council were so impressed with the record number of students participating in C2G, they agreed to match student gifts to the FHSS Annual Fund again this year. Individual student contributions to the FHSS annual fund (up to $200) will be matched 5 to 1.

Departments in the college are divided into three brackets. The department with the highest percentage of student participation per bracket wins a C2G Mentored Research Grant.

Departments must have at least 25% participation of student donations to be considered.

Breakdown of the undergraduates:

Bracket II $2,000 Award Under 300 Declared Majors Anthropology Geography Sociology Neuroscience

Bracket III $3,000 Award 400-520 Declared Majors Economics Political Science

Bracket IV $4,000 Award Over 600 Declared Majors History Psychology School of Family Life

And now announcing two new graduate student brackets:

Bracket I A   Graduate Students Under 30 Declared    Anthropology Public Policy Sociology

Bracket I B    Graduate Students 60-100 Declared    Psychology School of Family Life Social Work

*Note: number of declared majors are based on total students enrolled as of Fall 2009.


Making a Donation is easy:

            1) Enter your name and student ID # onto the form.

            2) Choose where your investment goes.*

            3) Enclose cash or check into envelope.

            4) Drop the envelope into your department’s yellow box.

      *To get the 5 to 1 match, you must donate to the FHSS Annual Fund.

The Fine Print:

We are counting envelopes for the college contest, but we receive a report from LDSP regarding student ID#’s, so we will know if the student spread one donation over several envelopes. That is not allowed in the contest.

If your department wins, the department chair will identify the faculty research project to be awarded the C2G Mentored Research Grant. The funds from the award will be used to hire/pay research assistants working on the project.
Faculty and students who benefit from C2G funds are expected to send a follow-up report to the Dean’s Office by the first week of the fall classes.
